Nine To Compete In Miss Oakland County Pageant At Oakland University

The next Miss Oakland County will be crowned this Saturday, July 14 at Oakland University.

It’s the 44th year for the scholarship pageant, which serves as the preliminary to Miss Michigan and the Miss America Scholarship Organization. Four Miss Oakland County winners have gone on in that time to become Miss Michigan. The 2006 Miss Oakland County Kirsten Haglund went on to become Miss America in 2008.

Co-hosted by two former Miss Michigan titleholders, Nicole Stoll and Madonna Ladouceur, the pageant will see nine contestants compete in areas like on-stage Q&A’s, talent, evening gown, private interviews and a lifestyle and fitness category. The winner receives a scholarship of at least $1,150 and will tour the county next year as Miss Oakland County.

Runner-ups receive scholarships between $600 and $800 and all non-finalist contests receive $100 scholarships. The scholarship funds were donated by businesses and individuals throughout the community, according to a release.

Another 14 contestants between the ages of 13 and 17 will compete in the Miss Oakland County’s Outstanding Teen Pageant earlier that day at 2 p.m.

The pageant begins at 6:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. at Dodge Hall on Oakland University’s campus, 118 Library Drive in Rochester. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door or online at
