Amir Khan Vs Terence Crawford: Date Reportedly Set For Madison Square Garden Fight

WBO welterweight champion Terence "Bud" Crawford's next opponent will be Amir Khan. It's not exactly the welterweight fight boxing fans want to see, but it's better than the bout that Top Rank was initially ready to roll out for Bud.

Crawford and Khan will lock horns on April 20 in the main event of Top Rank Boxing's first ESPN pay-per-view event. So far, the undercard hasn't been confirmed, but it wouldn't surprise me if Shakur Stevenson and perhaps Teofimo Lopez were also in action.

On Tuesday night, we learned the event will take place at the famed Madison Square Garden. The MGM Grand Garden Arena was in the running to host the event, but in the end, MSG won out. Crawford's guaranteed purse hasn't been confirmed, but Khan is reportedly set to walk away with at least $5 million. Expect Crawford to earn some percentage of pay-per-view revenue and perhaps other endorsements and incentives.

Khan could have potentially made more if he'd chosen to accept his rival Kell Brook's challenge. However, instead, the 32-year-old from Bolton elected to take what most would consider a tougher fight against Crawford–one of the sport's pound-for-pound best. A Khan-Brook bout has been discussed and rumored for years with the two men trading barbs consistently for much of their careers.

There's a possibility it could still happen in the future–if both are still active, but Crawford is next up for Khan. Originally, Crawford was going to defend his title against Collazo, but fans reportedly reacted negatively to the news and the plug was pulled.

Crawford will be a massive favorite over Khan, but the latter does own a win over Collazo–for whatever that's worth in this situation.

The fight most still want to see is Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr. Unfortunately, that bout appears to be trapped behind promotional and network agreements. Spence is defending his IBF welterweight title against Mikey Garcia on March 16. Perhaps the two sides can get serious about a 147-pound unification bout if both Crawford and Spence emerge victoriously.

Crawford Vs. Collazo? Sure...get used to that level of opponents for TC...hearing Collazo not happy at PBC..it makes a bit of sense now..

Would not be surprised if Crawford fights Jose Benavidez again...and Van Heerden at some point, right?

Crawford vs Collazo is pretty poor. I'd rather him fight someone like Egis Kavaliauskas.

Is Khan vs Crawford a better fight then Collazo v Crawford?
